Skin Health: What is it? How do you build it?
As we transition from winter to spring/summer, it is the season to shift hydration, but not results. As temperature and humidity rise, skin requires less occlusion and more adaptive hydration for all skin types.
A good spring/summer skin routine is all about lighter layers, oil control, and strong sun protection while still keeping your skin hydrated and healthy.
Here is a simple, effective routine you can follow:
Morning (AM Routine)
- Gentle Cleanser-Switch to a lighter cleanser if your skin gets oily in warmer weather.
- Antioxidant Serum (optional but great)-A vitamin C serum helps brighten skin and protect against sun damage.
- Lightweight Moisturizer-Use a gel or water-based moisturizer instead of heavy creams.
- Sunscreen (Non-negotiable)-SPF 30+ and reapply every 2 hours if you are outside
Evening (PM Routine)
- Cleanser-Double cleanse if you wore sunscreen
- Treatment (2-3x per week)-Use chemical exfoliants to keep skin smooth
- Serum (optional)-Hydrating serums with hyaluronic acid work well in summer.
- Moisturizer-Keep it light but hydrating
Summer Skin Tips
- Don’t over-exfoliate (heat can already irritate skin)
- Drink plenty of water (it actually helps your skin look better too!)
- Wear hats/sunglasses for extra protection
Common mistakes in warmer months:
- Skipping moisturizer (this can make oiliness worse)
- Not reapplying sunscreen
- Using heavy winter products that clog pores
