What’s skin pH and what product helps?

Skin pH refers to how acidic or alkaline your skin’s surface is.  It’s measured on a scale of 0 to 14. Healthy skin sis around pH 4.5-5.5, which is slightly acidic. This natural acidity is called the acid mantle.

  • 0-6.9 = acidic

  • 7 = neutral

  • 7.1-14 = aklaline

A toner is a liquid skincare step used after cleansing and before serum or moisturizer.

Its main job is to rebalance your skin after washing and prepare it to absorb the next products more effectively.

What Toner Does

  1. Rebalance skin pH – Cleansers can make skin slightly alkaline; toner helps bring it back to its natural, slightly acidic pH (~5.5), which supports a healthy barrier.
  2. Remove leftover residue – It sweeps away traces of dirt, cleanser, or hard-water minerals.
  3. Hydrate or soothe – Many modern toners are packed with hydrating or calming ingredients (like hyaluronic acid, rose water, or aloe).

How to Use Toner

  1. After cleansing, pour a little onto a cotton pad or pat it in directly with your hands.
  2. Gently apply it all over your face (avoid harsh rubbing).
  3. Follow with serum, then moisturizer.

Think of it like this:

Cleanser → removes dirt

Toner → rebalance + refresh

Serum → treats

Moisturizer → locks it all in
